This is the medicine that the King’s Grace uses every day, which he has been very pleased with, for the reigning sickness that now reigns, and by the grace of God has slain 71 people this year.
He must take:
- A handful of rue
- A handful of marigolds
- Half a handful of feathers
- A handful of burnett
- A handful of sorell
- An amount of the dragon plant or its root
Then, take a half-gallon of running water. First, wash the ingredients clean, and let them boil on low heat until they are almost reduced from a half-gallon to a quart of liquid. Then, take a clean clothe and strain it, and drink it. And it will be bitter, so add in a little sugar. This may be drunk often, and if it is drunk before any purple (skin patches) appear, by the grace of God there will be no peril of death!
